Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner dated another contestant after divorce from Theresa Nist

Bachelor Nation is vast, but it's also a small world.
More than 5 million viewers watched The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner, then 72, marry contestant Theresa Nist, then 71, in January of 2024 — only to be shocked when the couple announced their divorce three months later. But his failed marriage didn't dissuade Turner from dipping his toes back into the Golden dating pool later.
In the August 20 episode of their Golden Hour podcast, hosts (and season 1 contestants) Susan Noles and Kathy Swarts talked with Nist about Turner's post-divorce dating life — which included a six-month relationship with their fellow season 1 contestant Christina Kempton.

Swarts asked Nist, who revealed that she was the one who suggested he take Kempton out. But Nist was surprised to learn from Swarts that Kempton and Turner went out for six months. "What?" she cried, in response to hearing the news. "I didn't know that!"

In April of last year, Turner and Nist appeared on Good Morning America to announce their decision to divorce. "Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage," Turner said at the time. Nist added, "We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at homes after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision."

Nearly eight months later, Turner revealed that he had been diagnosed with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia, a type of bone marrow cancer, while still married to Nist. The former Golden Bachelor explained how the diagnosis played into their split, saying, "I wanted my life to continue on as normal as possible, and that led me to believing that as normal as possible more meant spending time with my family, my two daughters, my two son-in-laws, my granddaughters. And the importance of finding the way with Theresa was still there, but it became less of a priority."
