Yearwood returned to the Today Show after 20 years to perform and to promote her 16th studio album, The Mirror. This album is special for the country star because it's the first album the "She's In Love With The Boy" singer has co-written in her career.

While speaking with Today Show hosts about her new album, Yearwood was asked what she meant when she said writing the album was "kind of like a letter" to her younger self.

"What are you trying to tell young Trisha?" Dylan Dreyerasked.

The 60-year-old singer explained that the title track is about how "if you could see yourself and not know it was you, you wouldn't be so critical. We look in the mirror and we pick ourselves apart. "

She continued, "But if you could kind of see yourself from the distance, you might go 'hey, she looks good!' The earlier you can learn that, the better."

The message was shared to the Today Show Instagram page with a caption that read, "It's been 20 years since Trisha Yearwood performed on the TODAY plaza, and we asked her if she had a message to her younger self. 🧡"

That certainly hit a chord with Yearwood's fans, who flooded the comment section, with one writing, "❤️Love this! Trisha looks great and one of my favorite songs of hers, She’s in love with the boy."
