Superman 2: James Gunn Reveals What Batman Crossovers Won’t Happen in Sequel

James Gunn has recently opened up about what fans can expect from a Superman 2, and whether or not DC’s famous Caped Crusader would be involved.
What is the plan for Batman and Superman crossovers in the DCU?
Speaking to Josh Horowitz during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gunn was asked what, if anything, he could say about his next movie. Gunn said that the next film he’s writing isn’t a strict Superman sequel, but that Superman is “very important” to it, and also said fans wouldn’t have to worry about it being another “Batman vs. Superman” film.
“Superman is very important,” Gunn said. “And it’s not Batman versus Superman.” When asked if the movie would be a World’s Finest film featuring Batman, Gunn also shook his head, signaling that wouldn’t be the case.

As of now, it remains unclear if the next film Gunn does will end up being all about Superman. It seems that the film won’t be a direct follow-up to 2025’s Superman, but Gunn does know exactly how important David Corenswet’s Superman is to the DCU as a whole.
