Have they been changed ... for good?

"They are both stepping into this new space in their lives, and I think that actually makes them all the more powerful," Cynthia Erivo says of Elphaba and Glinda in newly released footage from the highly anticipated film Wicked: For Good.

On Wednesday, Universal released a featurette with new scenes and interviews featuring stars Erivo, who plays Elphaba (aka the Wicked Witch of the West), Ariana Grande (Glinda), and director Jon M. Chu.

"It's a much more mature, emotional journey about the consequences of the hard choices that you make," Chu explains. "It's about them trying to get back together in some way, even if the fates don't allow that."

Last year's Wicked earned 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Erivo, Best Supporting Actress for Grande, as well as Costume Design, Production Design, Editing, Visual Effects, Sound, Score, and Makeup & Hairstyling.

The sequel will see the return of original cast members Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard), Michelle Yeoh (Madam Morrible), Ethan Slater (Boq), and Bowen Yang (Pfannee).

In one of the newly released scenes, Erivo's character, Elphaba, announces, "Haven't you heard? I'm the Wicked Witch of the West." The upcoming film delves deeper into the magical world of Oz, with glimpses of Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the iconic yellow brick road.

"It's also the intersection of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the world of Wicked," explains Chu, as the trailer teases the convergence of the two narratives.

Grande adds that viewers can expect to see, "how far we can push this friendship."

Wicked: For Good hits theaters on Nov. 21.
