A new Blade rumor suggests how the MCU movie might tie into Mephisto and a Midnight Sons project.

Blade is an MCU movie that has been in development for many years. Kevin Feige announced that the project was happening and that Mahershala Ali would play the titular character back in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, yet it still has not come to fruition.

Ali did have an uncredited voice cameo at the end of 2021’s Eternals, but the actual Blade movie does not have a release date at this time.

What is the update on the MCU Blade movie?

It has long been rumored that the villain Lilith will make her MCU debut in Blade. According to scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, Lilith’s inclusion could link the film to Mephisto and the Midnight Sons.

More specifically, Perez reports that Lilith may serve as one of the “potential rivals to Mephisto by the time the events of Damnation come to pass.”

Damnation is a Marvel Comics limited series by Donny Cates and Nick Spencer that sees Mephisto, who is played by Sacha Baron Cohen in the MCU, take over the city of Las Vegas. After the Avengers are turned into Ghost Rider-like creatures, the only hope the world has when it comes to stopping Mephisto is the Midnight Sons, who are assembled by Wong.

According to Perez, Marvel plans to adapt the Damnation storyline “culminating in what will be aMidnight Sonsmovie.” While this is just a rumor at this time and should be taken with a grain of salt, the MCU Blade movie could then begin to set the stage for that storyline, as Blade was one of the original Midnight Sons members.

As of now, there has been no official word from Marvel Studios as to what the plot of Blade will be, meaning this is just speculation at this time.
