Is This Wrecked ’63 Chrysler 300J Worth Saving?Tucked away in a wrecking yard in Iowa is a ’63 Chrysler 300J which has some valuable features, making it unique. But even though the classic Mopar, which has been battered and abused, might be a one-of-one, we wonder if most people would sink the resources into the vehicle to save it.

After all, the 300J isn’t exactly the most celebrated 300 letter series models out there. That honor goes to the 300C. Powerful and luxurious, many argue the Chrysler 300C was really the first American muscle car, kicking off the movement.
That’s in part why so many to this day still want one. But the 300J is another story. While production numbers were limited to somewhere around 400 units, it’s not like Mopar fans are clamoring to get their hands on one.
As the last of the letter series to come with a cross-ram intake standard, which makes it more desirable than the 300K. But it’s still not something that gets many enthusiasts’ engines revved up.
However, this particular ’63 Chrysler 300J discovered by YouTube channel Rocket Restorations has a little something extra: a factory-installed 3-speed manual transmission. Supposedly, 7 cars were made with the option, but only this one is known to exist.
In other words, thanks to the third pedal, this 300J might be a one-of-one. Does that make it valuable?
Value is in the eye of the beholder. A one-of-one Ferrari is always going to get people all twisted up in knots. But a Chrysler 300J is going to produce a lot of shoulder shrugs or blank stares.
Fortunately, a friend of this YouTube channel scooped up the classic Mopar before it was crushed and gone forever. He sees value in the thing and has plans to restore it to its former glory. But would you spend that kind of cash on a car like this?
