The Princess of Wales, 43, was noticeably absent from Prince William's annual polo match on Friday, July 11, which supports the royal couple's various charitable causes. This marks another instance where Middleton has stepped away from public events as she eases back into her royal duties after her battle with cancer.

William, also 43, was competing in the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor. The Royal athlete represented his team at the event by wearing a blue No. 4 jersey paired with white riding pants and brown boots.

Middleton had also missed the event last year due to her illness, though she attended in 2023 and previous years.

In March 2024, Middleton made the emotional announcement of her cancer diagnosis, sharing on Instagram that after undergoing abdominal surgery in January, further tests revealed the presence of cancer, which led to a course of chemotherapy. The Princess ended up completing her treatment in September 2024, and has slowly begun to start fulfilling more royal duties.

Last week, Middleton opened up about the challenges of adjusting to life post-treatment in the garden at Colchester Hospital in Essex on July 2. “Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult," she admitted.“You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”

In June, Middleton also chose to skip the Royal Ascot, a traditional event closely tied to the British royal family. However, she did just help welcome French PresidentEmmanuel Macronand his wife, Brigitte Macron, to the U.K. on July 8 by participating in a grand carriage procession through the streets along with William.
