It appears Marvel's Blade did not enter full production until 2024, according to new financial documents from Arkane Studios. Things have been hectic at Microsoft-owned companies lately amid sweeping layoffs and cancellations, but thankfully, Arkane's upcoming Marvel game has seemingly survived the chaos. However, Marvel's Blade may take longer to come out than many had hoped for.
Arkane first announced it was working on Blade in 2023 during that year's Game Awards. The minute-and-a-half-long teaser didn't reveal much, and the studio has remained quiet about the project since then, leaving fans wondering when they could expect it, any gameplay details aside. There's still no release date in sight, but a recent update suggests that the day may be further away than gamers may have expected after the initial reveal.

Why an Update on Marvel's Blade is More Important Than Ever
With the delays and cancellations of other Blade content and Marvel media, an update on Marvel's Blade can restore the hope of fans.
PostsAs spotted by Timur222, Arkane's 2024 financial statements say the "production phase of the AAA game project" started toward the end of last year. While that doesn't mention Blade outright, there are few, if any, other games that phrase could refer to. The Dishonored developer hasn't announced or released anything apart from Blade since 2021's Deathloop, as the ill-fated Redfall was the product of Arkane Austin. While this would seemingly conflict with earlier reports that Blade has been in development since early 2022, it could be that the studio has been working on the game since then but didn't shift into full production until years later.
Marvel's Blade Seemingly Did Not Enter Full Production Until Late 2024

Not long after Arkane first announced the title, some rumors suggested Marvel's Blade wouldn't release until at least 2027, which suddenly seems increasingly likely. If all the stakeholders involved had initially planned on a 2027 release at the earliest, it may make sense for the devs to take their time ramping up to full production. Of course, any details about what's going on behind the scenes are speculation at best.
CloseThere's always a chance Blade could come out later than 2027, too. While a long wait may be disappointing, there may be some confidence to be found in Arkane not wanting to rush development. Despite relatively low sales, Dishonored 2 reportedly saved Arkane, thanks to its polish and level of quality. The studio following the same philosophy of refining the game as much as possible could result in a better Blade experience than if it pursued a closer release date. Still, the reason behind the wait and how the devs are tackling production are a mystery for now and may be for some time.
