Overwatch 2 Fans Should Keep an Eye on August 5

SerenGames2025-07-315270

Overwatch 2 has officially confirmed a collaboration with Nerf is coming on August 5, with a reveal trailer planned to air on August 4 at 9 AM PT. After plenty of teasers over the last month, Overwatch 2 is finally pulling back the curtain on the second crossover event of Season 17.

The collaborations for Overwatch 2 Season 17 began with G.I. Joe, featuring themed cosmetics for Genji, Freja, Reaper, Doomfist, and Widowmaker. However, teasers for an unannounced crossover between Overwatch 2 and Nerf were spotted in the Season 17 trailer, and later scattered around various maps.

Now, Overwatch 2 has confirmed this collaboration is real, shared when fans can expect to find out more about it, and even revealed a start date. A new gameplay trailer for the Nerf crossover has been scheduled on the official Overwatch 2 YouTube account. The video is planned to go live on August 4 at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET, and is expected to show off the contents of the collab ahead of the event, which starts on August 5.

While there is no telling exactly what this crossover will entail, the scheduled trailer itself holds a few clues. The description says players will be able to “bring your favorite blasters to the battlefield,” suggesting the Nerf event will likely involve weapon skins, rather than hero skins like previous Overwatch 2 collaborations. Considering Hasbro actually released a bunch of real-life Overwatch Nerf guns in the past, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to see these toys recreated in the FPS as weapon skins.

The Overwatch 2 x Nerf rumors may have finally been confirmed, but there are now plenty of other potential crossovers to fill that void. A recent Overwatch 2 survey suggested almost three dozen other external IPs that could be considered for collaborations, including League of Legends, The Witcher, and Jujutsu Kaisen. While there is no guarantee these crossovers may happen, the fact Blizzard brought them up at all is exciting.

There are a few other dates in August that fans will want to keep in mind as well. Junkrat’s Loot Hunt runs from August 1-3, the trail weekend for Wuyang – Overwatch 2 Season 18’s new support hero – will take place August 14-18, Competitive Drives are from August 19-25, and Season 18 itself launches on August 26. Needless to say, it sounds like the end of summer will have a lot for Overwatch 2 players to enjoy.
