The car, valued at around $3 million, was participating in a charity drive aimed at raising money for Utah families in need when the collision occurred, authorities confirmed. The driver of the Ferrari, who has not been publicly identified, was not injured, nor was the truck driver. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Utah Highway Patrol.
According to witnesses, the Ferrari was traveling northbound around midday when the semitruck veered into its lane and clipped the supercar’s rear quarter panel. Photos shared on social media show significant damage to the side of the vehicle, including a shattered rear fender and wheel, though the full extent of mechanical damage has not yet been disclosed.
The F40, produced by Ferrari between 1987 and 1992, is among the rarest and most desirable Ferraris ever made, with only 1,315 units built globally. Its combination of raw, analog performance and limited production has led to skyrocketing auction values in recent years.
The car was being driven as part of a charity-focused event, where exotic car owners donate time and rides to help raise awareness and funds for local causes. Organizers say they are thankful that no one was hurt and that the mission of the event will continue despite the setback.
“While the car can be repaired or replaced, lives cannot,” one event coordinator told reporters. “We’re just grateful everyone is okay.”
No citations have yet been issued in connection with the incident.
