With the SRT division officially back, Dodge is cooking up some serious secret muscle cars, and we’re here for it. Rumors are flying all over the place, but there are more solid indications Dodge and SRT are collaborating on some exciting new models we’ll see soon enough.
After its disastrous rebrand, Jaguar sales fall shocking amount.
In his announcement video about the return of SRT, Tim Kuniskis strongly hints that even though the performance division was officially disbanded, it’s been operating in secret inside Stellantis’ North American headquarters.
That would explain why there’s already a rumored new model called the SRT Duster. Supposedly, it will be priced at $35,000 and still offer up some serious performance with stripped-down features. In other words, it’s more like the muscle cars of old which weren’t the luxury barges we have today.
Adding fuel to this rumor is a still image sent to Mopar YouTuber TK’s Garage, who says it’s from a yet-to-be-released promotional Dodge video. You can’t really make out the car, thanks to plenty of tire smoke billowing from its rear tires, but it isn’t a Charger Daytona, even though it has a similar design language.
Even more interesting, it has rear doors.
What’s more, TK’s Garage shared another image from the same promotional video which shows what he believes is the Charger Classic. The name is reminiscent of the Ram Classic and it sure looks a lot like the old Charger everyone loved, only with two doors.
TK’s Garage was told the ad where the two still images originated from drops sometime in August. In other words, we don’t have long to see exactly what’s going on. What’s interesting is we were told before August was when the announcement that the Hemi V8 is returning to Dodge would be made. Is that coincidence?
But wait, there’s even more. In the announcement video about SRT returning, Kuniskis references the start of the division, saying it created something special 36 years ago. That’s when the Viper was developed, so some people are thinking a Viper announcement is going to be made soon as well.
While we’ve been told the Viper is definitely coming back, we don’t know exactly when or how that will happen. What we do know is with Kuniskis in charge of SRT, Dodge is really cooking up some secrets that are about to be revealed, either in part or whole.
