On July 6, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet revealed another Seven-Star Tera Raid boss for trainers to face, as Kommo-o the Unrivaled will appear in Tera Raid dens throughout Paldea in mid-July. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have two windows of opportunity throughout the month to face and capture Kommo-o the Unrivaled.
Known as the Scaly Pokemon, Kommo-o is the pseudo-legendary monster of Pokemon Sun and Moon. Kommo-o is the final evolution form of Jangmo-o and Kakamo-o, and is usually considered a Dragon and Fighting dual-type creature. Kommo-o uses the scales on its arms, tail, and neck to create loud sounds that can be used to intimidate weaker Pokemon. In battle, Kommo-o is a mixed attacker with high physical defenses, with moves like Clangorus Soul to bolster all its stats and powerful attacks like Clanging Scales, Aura Sphere, and Earthquake. Kommo-o can normally be obtained in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by catching a Jangmo-o in Kitakami and evolving it.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Kommo-o Tera Raid Details (July 2025)
Kommo-o the Unrivaled will appear in Seven-Star Tera Raid dens from July 10 to 13. Trainers who miss out will get another chance from July 17 to 20. Kommo-o will have the Fighting-type as its Tera type, and moves like Clanging Scales. Removing Kommo-o's ability and using Fairy-type Pokemon to deal damage are recommended. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Kommo-o's main abilities are Soundproof, which blocks sound-based attacks like Screech or Metal Sound from affecting it, and Bulletproof, which stops Acid Spray and Aura Sphere from dealing damage. There is also the possibility that Kommo-o has its hidden ability, Overcoat, to shield it from moves like Sandstorm. Removing Kommo-o's ability with moves like Skill Swap and Worry Seed, and neutralizing the buffs it gains from Clangorus Soul or Swords Dance will be crucial.
CloseDespite its power, Kommo-o retains its weaknesses to Fairy and Flying attacks, so Fairy-type Pokemon like Flutter Mane, Sylveon, and Galarian Weezing could come in handy. It remains to be seen what moves Kommo-o the Unrivaled will use, and what strategies Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers will subsequently form.
