Cricket and Danny ‘finally’ getting engaged on The Young and the Restless
Lauralee Bell and Michael Damian confirmed their Young and the Restless characters, Cricket and Danny, are finally getting engaged again.
The engagement takes place during the July 10 episode and marks a significant moment for the on-screen couple, who first married in 1990. Bell told People, “Finally,” when asked about the engagement, and added, “We were super, super excited because it’s been 35 years in the making.”

The character Phyllis gave birth to Daniel, who was later revealed not to be Danny’s biological son. Despite decades apart, the characters have reconnected, and the actors credit long-time fans for their continued interest. Bell noted, “We’re reminiscent of those fun days,” while Damian added, “The nostalgia is really beautiful.”
The couple’s popularity surged in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s when they reached supercouple status. Damian recalled meeting “loyal” fans during weekend public appearances. Bell said their appeal came from playful, intimate scenes and the slow build of their relationship. “We were playing strip poker. We were doing things that really draw people in,” she said.
William J. Bell, Lauralee’s father and series co-creator, crafted their romance. Damian and Bell say they don’t know what the wedding episode will include. Bell teased that Cricket “became a badass” during her time off-screen and said, “She might just backhand [Phyllis].” Damian joked that Phyllis might impersonate the priest.
Despite the tension between their characters, Bell and Damian enjoy working with Michelle Stafford, who plays Phyllis. Bell recalled, “She did it from day one,” referring to Stafford’s role in breaking up the couple. Viewers expect some drama at the wedding, but Bell hopes nothing disrupts the actual “I do.”
