Has Petty’s Garage Closed For Good?With many longstanding businesses closing lately, we were concerned when we ran across news Petty’s Garage was done for. After all, the shop not only helps with fixing customers’ cars but also provides performance components to owners of domestic machines, including muscle cars.

The first indication we ran across that something might be amiss comes from a Reddit post in r/NASCAR with someone claiming Petty’s Garage “suddenly closed.” Nobody in the threat from 26 days ago seemed to know what was going on, so we started to dig.
Visiting the Petty’s Garage website made us only more suspicious the business was in fact shuttered unceremoniously.
Navigating to its Facebook Page, we found it was just gone, nuked into oblivion. That’s often a sign a business has closed forever.
Curiously, the Petty’s Garage YouTube and Instagram accounts are still alive, although neither has had fresh content posted to it in a while.
Some people were wondering if the Richard Petty Museum, which is right next to Petty’s Garage in Randleman, North Carolina had also just shut down without warning. However, the website and social media pages for that were still open and with fresh content from just a few days ago.
That’s when we decided to do the only sensible thing and just call Petty’s Garage to see if anyone answered. The simple, direct approach paid off as we found the business is still up and running.
This isn’t the first time a Reddit post has tried to claim something fantastic like Petty’s Garage closing for good. And that’s why we verify everything before running stories. In this case, the result was learning (again) you can’t trust everything on the internet because people will post all kinds of things with no evidence to back it up.
