Another Former Xbox Exclusive is Coming to PS5

Developer GSC Game World has announced that STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released for PS5 and PS5 Pro in late 2025. This is great news for PS5 owners, as STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is one of the most exciting open-world first-person shooters released in the last few years, and it’s currently only available on Xbox and PC.
The STALKER franchise began with STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, released by GSC Game World in 2007, and it received two more games in the following years. However, despite STALKER 2 originally being announced in 2010, the project was eventually canceled and was only released in November 2024 after multiple delays caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where GSC Game World is located. Despite some harsh criticism regarding its lack of polish at release, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl saw positive reviews, and it currently stands with an average critic score of 74 on OpenCritic.

CloseIt’s fair to say that STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been a big hit, so it’ll likely be popular when it finally releases for the PS5. Earlier this year, the developers revealed that STALKER 2 had reached over six million players. While this number counts Xbox Game Pass subscribers, who do not need to purchase the title in order to play it, it’s speculated that STALKER 2 sold at least two million units, a huge achievement for the studio. Hopefully, GSC Game World will continue improving STALKER 2 this year ahead of the PS5 release, delivering a more stable launch than the shooter saw on Xbox and PC.
