Palworld Update Will Fix Frustrating Save File Bug

EsmeraldaGames2025-07-106260

Palworld's save game corruption problems on PlayStation 5 seem to be nearing their end, and the development team at PocketPair has announced the progress that has been made in identifying the bug's source and fixing it. Plenty of players have been losing progress in Palworld as a result of this bug, and while that problem may be remedied soon, there may be little reason for some players to celebrate.

The monster-catching survival game was first launched on Xbox consoles and PC in January 2024, with its PlayStation 5 version arriving about eight months later. While it proved immensely popular in its opening days, there were early reports of Palworld crashing on Xbox, and the new autosave corruption bug on PS5 is the latest in a series of major technical problems that players are facing.

Palworld may be suffering from a crippling auto-save bug on PlayStation 5, but there are other games that can take its place for now.

The autosave error bug in Palworld has specifically been affecting players on PS5, and the development team has been working on a solution to it for a while now, announcing at the end of last week that a patch would unfortunately not be available until sometime after the weekend. However, a new update posted on the game's social media channels is now offering some hope by officially acknowledging the source of the problem and giving an idea of how the development team plans to fix it. According to that post, the backend error results when too many save files are present on the PlayStation 5 version, causing data to become corrupted. Pocketpair is accepting the blame for allowing this error to occur, and its team members are collectively apologizing to players for allowing their save data to become corrupted.

Palworld Team Prepares Controversial Solution To Autosave Bug

There is hope of a bug fix, which is planned to arrive in a patch on July 10 and will add save game protections, though some of the methods used may not be the solution all Palworld players on PS5 have been hoping for. These players will be limited to 10 save files, although players who already have 11 or more save files are not at risk of having their previously saved games deleted.

The problems don't stop there, unfortunately, as the team acknowledges that players on PS5 who have already seen the error codes CE-100022-5 or CE-100096-6 are likely to continue to experience issues. There seems to be no realistic way to recover corrupted Palworld save data, and the unfortunate solution that Pocketpair is offering to players on PS5 who have already been affected is to delete all their previously saved data for the game. Fans of the game have thanked Pocketpair for its transparency, but there is still backlash from players who are realizing that their progress, bases, and collected Pals have to be completely wiped out in order to continue playing.
