Doom: The Dark Ages has issued a hotfix for PlayStation gamers, fixing an issue with trophies that players have been experiencing on the PS5. The problem has been impacting some players since Doom: The Dark Ages was released, creating frustration.

As the latest entry in a franchise spanning over 30 years, players had high expectations for Doom: The Dark Ages. The game has performed well in terms of both reviews and player count, with a 95% critic recommendation on OpenCritic and three million players checking out the game in its first week alone. While players on most platforms have been largely satisfied with the game, PS5 gamers have been left with a bug for quite some time now, which has been a sore spot for the console's community.

Bethesda has now released a hotfix exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version of Doom: The Dark Ages. This hotfix finally fixes a problem with the game's trophy system, where players couldn't unlock the Berserker Trophy after obtaining all the required upgrades. PS5 players are reporting that after the update was downloaded, the trophy popped up the next time they started up the game. This has also unlocked the Platinum Trophy for a number of gamers who only had the bugged achievement left to unlock on their lists.

Doom: The Dark Ages Players Express Frustration With Fix

While some players are pleased and satisfied with the fix, others have taken the opportunity to voice their frustration at the long-standing bug. This has been an issue since Doom: The Dark Ages was released on May 15, with it taking nearly two months, or 54 days exactly, for a fix to be issued. The bug hadn't gone unnoticed by Bethesda or id Software, as Doom: The Dark Ages' first update, which landed on June 5, was supposed to fix the issue. However, it seems that didn't work for the majority of impacted players.

While achievements and trophies don't really impact gameplay itself, some players expressed disappointment at finally unlocking this trophy and the Platinum for Doom: The Dark Ages in this manner. Unlocking Platinum in games is usually an exciting moment for gamers, and often serves as the final chapter of playing a title before they move on to something new. The players who put in all the work are only getting the Platinum now, and having it just show up after booting up the game has, unfortunately, taken a lot of fun out of the moment for them.
